LYRICS

Say something I’m giving up on you
I’ll be the one if you want me to
Anywhere I would have followed you
Say something I’m giving up on you

And I
I’m feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all

And I
will stumble and fall
I’m still learning to love
Just starting to crawl

Say something I’m giving up on you
I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you
Anywhere I would have followed you
Say something I’m giving up on you

And I
will swallow my pride
you’re the one that I love and I’m saying goodbye

Say something I’m giving up on you
and I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you
Anywhere I would have followed you
Say something I’m giving up on you

Say something I’m giving up on you
Say something

THE BACKSTORY

A while back, Carolane and I decided we wanted work on a song together. When we heard Say Something, it seemed to have just the right balance for a collaboration. The song was so minimalistic, making the cover was not as simple though, everything I was playing seemed too much but I wanted to bring the song elsewhere, first I wanted to record it on the acoustic guitar and I wanted to give it a finger-style feel with a little bit more rhythm in the chorus. Once I started recording everything went as a charm up to the very last moment, when I had almost two days of editing done on the video and suddenly the software completely crashed and would not open anymore…thanks to youtube tutorials and other videos I manage to pull off a crazy stunt to put my sessions back on track with only 15 minutes of work lost although finding the solution did take 1 hour but that’s besides the point. So I really didn’t know how our voices would blend but I was pleasantly surprised how her soft voice merged with my raspy chorus voice. I wasn’t too sure about doing a softer song as I usually take on more aggressive songs but everything turned out great, it was nice to try something new. As for those who want some new original material, I am currently in studio with a friend of mine and it is going to be one of the hardest songs I’ve ever done (both in style and in performance), so I am really working in contrasts lately. Since the studio has a high volume of clients we barely find time where we are both free so that’s why it’s taking so much time. The video will be reflecting all the work that was done in studio on how the song came together.
Are you still reading? How about you tell me in the comments what my next cover should be? Thanks for sticking around.
Cheers,
